SDXL is the latest model of Stable Diffusion released by Stability AI on July 26th. The main focus of this model is higher quality generations, enhanced intelligence and increased accuracy. SDXL has been trained on larger images that previous models, and has an easier time creating images that fit modern device screens. In this blog post, we will explore high resolution generation without using any upscaling to see if we can create some great landscape backgrounds!
This image was created in one-shot with the prompt captioned below the image. The result is desktop-background-ready image that is 1920×1088. Just 8 pixels off of the typical 16:9 aspect ratio used for the vast majority of modern TV and computer screens.
Using the same seed (1244687671) and modifying the prompt a bit produces similarly beautiful results with a slightly different focus of the decrepit building
This generation focuses more heavily on the “sunset” aspect of the prompt, creating a warm beautiful pink and orange sunset on a misty lake. Rendering images at 1080p is no problem for SDXL, creating these beautiful images that are well composed and rendered.
One of the great techniques to generating great landscapes in Stable Diffusion is using beautiful places in the prompt. In all of the images on this page, we are using “Beautiful British Columbia” to generate blue mountains, sunny skies and rivers surrounded by evergreen forests.
Aliens would love to visit BC, nothing like a good photo to show off your intergalactic ship to your new earthly friends.
Hopefully these images have inspired you to create some amazing landscapes! If you’re thirst for prompts and landscaping haven’t been quenched just yet, checkout this other landscape-based post: Stunning Green Lakes of Alberta and BC, Canada
